As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead and manage activities of Software Development Project Teams following the Company’s product development process. In this critical role, you will also be responsible and accountable for the successful completion of cloud-based software projects within committed boundaries and to organizational standards.

This role is hybrid, in our Niles, IL office.

Responsibilities

  • Leads product development projects through the development process from requirements gathering, UX development, implementation, testing, and public release. Diverse projects may include complexities related to:
    • technical engineering requirements
    • co-development partnerships
    • managing shared code development that may be used on multiple projects
    • the management of multiple projects.  
  • Forms and co-locates cross-functional teams focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products by utilizing standard project management tools and templates (based off of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)) and negotiating with Department Managers to obtain necessary resources.
  • Provides project reports, prepares collateral materials and presents status updates for project governance bodies and other stakeholders on a regular basis. Negotiates changes to project scope, timelines, or budget as necessary.
  • Leads teams with members in various locations and time zones.
  • Coordinates and manages project staffing estimations, budget, risk, and task duration to determine overall project cost to ensure projects adhere to plans. Approves project expenditures as necessary.
  • Coordinate requirements and maintains relationships with external vendors and suppliers; serves as internal project liaison with outside design firms needed to achieve project goals.
  • Manages technical problem solving efforts by guiding decision-making, exploring alternatives, soliciting opinion, pursuing root cause, and coordinating experiments while maintaining project/product cost, product quality and on-time delivery.
  • Provides leadership to Project Team members and Department Managers through motivation, influence, and coaching.
  • Prepares post-project assessment, compiles lessons learned, and suggests improvements to the new product development process.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, Software Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
  • Demonstrated abilities to lead and coach product development teams
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in new product implementation to include broad knowledge in some or all of the following disciplines: Requirements development and management, Software Engineering, cloud application development, integration with hardware and network systems, test development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leading project teams.
  • Knowledge of Project Management concepts and agile software development methods (XP, Scrum). Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) a plus.
  • Demonstrated abilities with e-tools including project scheduling software, PLM or PDM software, requirements management etc.
  • Performance management skills, including the ability to create and execute change. Demonstrated leadership, coaching and team building abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams in multiple locations and time zones
  • Uses good judgment in selecting practical, effective, and timely solutions.
  • Able to interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
