Shure is seeking a Senior Project Manager who will manage cross functional product development teams collaborating with leaders across divisions.

 

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading, supporting, and driving the full development team starting from business need and conceptualization to production while balancing the competing needs of performance, time, and cost. This will include working with and leading technical integration with partners, and our global product development organization. Shure’s products must exceed the expectations of our customers and utilize the latest in technology for our fast paced environment.

 

You'll be an expert at leading and managing activities of Project Teams following the Company’s new product development process. In addition, you will be responsible and accountable for the successful completion of Projects within committed boundaries and to organizational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Leads product development projects through the development process from initiation and planning to launch, which may include projects with more complexity due to;
    • 1) technical engineering requirements
    • 2) co-development OEM/ODM/JDM partnerships
    • 3) multiple products associated with the project, and/or
    • 4) the management of multiple projects.
  • Work with Shure management to understand priorities, staffing, quality, and timeliness of solutions for the product development team.
  • Forms and when possible co-locates cross-functional teams focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products by utilizing standard project management tools and templates as outlined by the Program Management Department and negotiating with Department Managers to obtain necessary resources.
  • Provides project reports, prepares collateral materials and presents status updates for the Executive Team, project governance bodies, and other stakeholders on a regular basis and negotiates changes to project scope, timelines,  or budget as necessary.
  • Leads the development of Project Team Product Proposals by negotiating scope of work and details of Project Charter together with Team and Project Stakeholders.
  • Coordinates and manages project staffing estimations, budget, risk, and task duration to determine overall project cost to ensure projects adhere to plans and approves project expenditures as necessary.
  • Identifies, develops, recommends, and manages relationships with outside design firms, co-development partners, and vendors in order to achieve project goals.
  • Identifies outside vendors in collaboration with the Supply Chain department for project materials, ensuring materials are received in a timely manner and meet project specifications.
  • Leads technical problem solving efforts by exploring alternatives, soliciting opinion, pursuing root cause, and coordinating experiments.
  • Leverages deep knowledge of organizational roles and responsibilities to guide project team and activities by effectively addressing competing interests or opinions.
  • Provides leadership to Project Team members, Department Managers, and Project Managers through motivation, influence, and coaching. With the possibility of managing Project Managers.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical departments in order to ensure all targets and requirements are met and reports progress to project governance bodies.
  • Prepares post-project assessment, compiling lessons learned and suggests improvements to the new product development process.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Engineering degree preferred. Graduate degree is desired.
  • 5 – 10 years of experience in Waterfall or Agile Project Management.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience possess broad experience and knowledge in some or all of the following disciplines: Analog and Digital Audio Circuitry, Signal Processing, User Interface, Microphones, Earphones/Headphones, Mechanical Design, Wireless / RF Systems, Packaging, Software Engineering (Graphical, Networking, Embedded).
  • Minimum of 5 years of leading project teams in a direct report or dotted/matrix environment.
  • Management of direct reports desired.
  • Ability to work on issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives, such as Design of Experiments, FMEA, or concurrent engineering.
  • Previous experience in assisting with the establishment of company policies, operational objectives, and work plans that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect.
  • Leadership and participation in engineering design review processes, and able to exhibit leadership in situations without formal authority.
  • Able to establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, business activities and provide guidance to project team.
  • Desire to continuously maintain working knowledge of key disciplines (e.g., electrical, mechanical, acoustical, and software engineering; marketing; operations and quality) that allow for effective leaderships of cross functional teams.
  • Uses good judgment in selecting practical, effective, and timely solutions.
  • Able to interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from others, without damaging the relationship.
