You’ll collaborate with UX leaders, designers, engineers, and end-users to craft intuitive, high-impact software interfaces that elevate both new and existing products. This role blends creative problem-solving with systems-level thinking, leveraging your expertise in wireframing, information architecture, and feature definition to design solutions that are as functional as they are elegant. This role is hybrid based out of our Niles, IL HQ but can be remote for the right candidate! 

Responsibilities

  • Works on projects from inception to launch, performing tasks such as user research, requirement gathering, conceptual design (from low to high fidelity), interaction design, interface documentation and specification.
  • Works independently and in collaboration with UX management and designers to produce multiple concepts and prototypes for both internal and external (customers) use, usability testing, and user data analysis.
  • Collaborates with product managers on product requirement gathering and scoping, focusing on the overall user experience, ease-of-use, and efficiency of associated software applications.
  • Works with the Product Development division to ensure the technical feasibility of designs and guides the interface through the development process.
  • Designs and executes full cycle User Research and Validation studies; from planning, experimental design, session moderation, data collection and data analysis.
  • Leverages rapid prototyping and customer interaction to make informed design decisions.
  • Drafts detailed functional requirements for product development teams including graphical renderings, interaction pattern documentation and style guide creation.
  • Reviews user documentation for accuracy regarding product features, proper usage, and expected performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a User Interface/User Experience designer focused on desktop and mobile applications.
  • Relevant web-based, fully responsive design portfolio displaying strong visual and interactive design samples is required for consideration.
  • Expert knowledge of design tools: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch, Axure and Omnigraffle.
  • Expert knowledge of UI design platforms: Material Design, iOS and Bootstrap.
  • Working knowledge of at least two of the prototyping tools: Adobe XD, Invision, Principle, Marvel, Proto.io and Framer.
  • Working knowledge of CSS and HTML.
  • Previous exposure to Confluence, JIRA, and/or Contour to track issues in an Agile environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in the following User Research techniques: Heuristic Evaluation, Affinity Diagrams, A/B Testing, Contextual Inquiries, and Persona Definition.
  • Comprehensive systems thinking, UX concepting and wire-framing capabilities, Information Architecture and feature scoping skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of user-centered design process implementation as well as an understanding of related design methodologies.
  • Industry knowledge - experience with products for audio or AV/IT professionals is preferred.
  • Able to use professional concepts and apply company policies/procedures to work on problems/issues of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Ability to work as a member of a fast-moving multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent critical listening, analytic, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel 20% both domestically and internationally

PAY TRANSPARENCY
Shure offers a competitive compensation structure that is reviewed annually to attract, hire, and retain the industry’s top talent. Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The base salary range for this position is between $80,000 - $128,000. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for this opportunity. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
