Overview

As our Sales and Use Tax Manager, you’ll lead the strategy and execution of tax compliance, setting the standard for accuracy and efficiency across the organization.

 

The Sales and Use Tax Manager plays a critical role in driving tax compliance excellence and strategic guidance across the organization. This position leads all aspects of sales and use tax operations, ensuring accurate and timely filings, managing audits, and mitigating risk. Beyond compliance, the role partners with cross-functional teams to support corporate initiatives, optimize processes, and deliver actionable tax insights that influence business decisions. Success in this role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and proficiency in SAP S/4HANA to streamline tax workflows and enhance efficiency.

 

This position will be hybrid based out of our Niles, IL HQ! 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all sales and use tax returns, manage the tax inbox and data, and handle inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Oversee sales and use tax audits, including the preparation of materials and negotiation with tax authorities, while identifying and mitigating potential tax risks.
  • Conduct research on complex tax issues, providing guidance to internal stakeholders and supporting corporate tax strategies.
  • Assist with the implementation and testing of SAP S/4HANA and an Exemption Certificate Management system, while improving tax compliance processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work closely with the Finance, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Customer Service, IT, and other departments to ensure cohesive tax reporting and compliance.
  • Manage external consultants and lead corporate projects that enhance tax strategy and business operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of wide-ranging public accounting experience with at least 5 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance.
  • Proficiency with SAP S/4Hana
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with VAT is a plus

PAY TRANSPARENCY
Shure offers a competitive compensation structure that is reviewed annually to attract, hire, and retain the industry’s top talent. Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base salary for the opportunity. The base salary for this position ranges from $102,000 to $174,000. This position may also be eligible for our incentive pay program, which varies based on individual and Company performance in the year. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
