SUMMER 2027


Shure offers a challenging, fun, and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.

 

As the Electrical Engineering Intern (Digital Circuitry & Test Automation), you will work under the close direction of senior staff on the design, implementation, and automated testing of electronic circuits for wireless microphones, signal processors, and conference systems.

 

This internship is on-site, based in Niles, IL. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks for circuit validation
  • Designing automated test fixtures and interfaces for production and prototype testing
  • Designing, simulating, and testing digital circuitry
  • Developing printed circuit board assemblies
  • Assembling prototypes
  • Programming automated test sequences using instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and audio measurement systems
  • Performing automated and manual validation testing at the circuit, sub-system, and system level
  • Circuit defect analysis and resolution using data collected from automated test runs
  • Documenting test procedures, automation frameworks, and results
  • Completing an independent design or test automation project

 

Qualifications

  • Two years of coursework in Electrical Engineering or a related area
  • Basic knowledge of digital logic circuits, embedded microcontrollers, analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters, DSPs, FPGAs, and other digital components
  • Basic knowledge of audio related circuits, audio systems, and audio measurement techniques
  • Experience or coursework with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C, LabVIEW, or MATLAB) for writing test scripts and automation tools
  • Basic knowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and multimeters
  • Familiarity with instrument control interfaces (GPIB, USB, LAN) or protocols such as SCPI is a plus
  • Soldering and circuitry building or repair skills
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Experience with schematic CAD software, PCB layout, and SPICE simulation software is a plus
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD concepts

PAY TRANSPARENCY

Modeled by extensive market analysis and economic best practices, Shure offers competitive intern compensation that is reviewed and adjusted annually by our Total Rewards Team to attract, hire, and retain the industry’s top intern talent. Each internship has an hourly rate which varies from $23-$43 per hour based on job function (Engineering, IT, Business, etc) and year completed in school (Junior, Masters 2nd year, PHD, etc).
